Please Help Us Welcome CTA’s New Events Specialist- Mariana Worrall
Mariana Worrall has always been hungry for new experiences, adventures, and challenges. Along the way, she found her passion in food and event planning. We can’t wait to see what she does here at the Culinary Tourism Alliance!
Discover the World through Food, Colours, and Traditions
Mariana was raised in Mexico City with a strong heritage full of traditions, beautiful and bright colours, and some pretty darn amazing food. In 2017, she began to explore her roots and came to Toronto to discover the diverse world of flavours and cultures in a new city.
Not long after, Mariana moved to a small town in Portugal for university and set out on a solo backpacking trip around the continent where she learned a lot about different culinary and cultural backgrounds. It’s here that she learned her passion for connecting people through shared experiences. This led her to complete her bachelor’s degree in Communications and Media and led her to event broadcasting for some top world brands.
Discovering Herself in the Same Way
As she worked in TV, radio, and digital media over several years, Mariana began to notice a disconnect in the way society nourishes itself and the land we live on. It was time to leave the industry in search of something else - a shared experience that could create a connection in a different way.
Mariana left her role in the media space to join a regenerative organic farm in southern Ontario and quickly found her passion in advocating for culinary communities and their food systems. Talk about a girl after our own heart!
Just over a month ago when the job position for Events Specialist for the Culinary Tourism Alliance came up, Mariana jumped at the opportunity and has been hitting the ground running ever since. This year, you can catch her at CTA’s Taste of Place Summit, and several Feast On® the Farm events, so be sure to say hi!
Mariana is fluent is English and Spanish and even knows some Portuguese too. She aims to get off the beaten path, find new spots and reconnect with nature wherever possible (including through her taste buds)! She’s excited to continue her work creating experiences that bring people closer to each other, themselves, and their food.
Welcome to the team, Mariana!
