Drink ON Apples™ at Feast On®-certified Businesses during Ontario Craft Cider Week

October 7, 2024 – In September, the Ontario government announced the launch of a transformative multi-year, multi-million dollar Ontario Craft Cider Marketing Fund aimed at elevating the province's craft cider industry. With over 60 cideries and more than 40 rural farm markets producing craft cider, Ontario's cider sector has been steadily gaining traction over the past 25 years and holds significant potential to rival the popularity of Ontario’s renowned craft beer and wine industries.

Despite the growth, there remains a vital opportunity to enhance consumer awareness regarding the unique qualities of craft cider and to highlight why Ontario's craft cider stands out as a superior choice. Only ciders made with 100% Ontario-grown apples carry the Drink Ontario Apples™ trademark. This symbol guarantees that the cider you are enjoying is made in Ontario with apples grown in your backyard as the first, and sometimes only, ingredient.

To promote this initiative, the Ontario Craft Cider Association has teamed up with the Culinary Tourism Alliance to showcase Feast On® certified restaurants that proudly serve craft cider that meets the Drink Ontario Apples™ standard.

October 7 to 13 is Ontario Craft Cider Week, a perfect opportunity for residents and visitors to indulge in the province’s rich cider offerings. We encourage everyone to make plans to visit a Feast On® certified establishment to enjoy a refreshing pint of cider paired with

"Partnering with the Culinary Tourism Alliance allows us to spotlight the incredible craftsmanship of our local cider makers and the premium quality of Ontario apples," said Janice Ruddock, Executive Director of the Ontario Craft Cider Association. "This collaboration encourages consumers to explore the diversity of our ciders while supporting restaurants that champion local products. We’re thrilled to be working together to showcase the best of Ontario’s food and drink culture."

“We are thrilled to have over 30 Feast On® certified businesses showcasing craft cider that meets the Drink Ontario Apples™ standards. These operators are champions of Ontario food and drink and celebrate the best of what is grown, raised, and produced in Ontario all year long,” says Rebecca Mackenzie, President and CEO of the Culinary Tourism Alliance. “For those eager to explore the cider experience further, we invite you to sign up for our newsletter, check out our website, and follow along on social media. You’ll find ideas for exciting day trips and weekend getaways to cider country, showcasing the best of what Ontario has to offer.”

Join us in celebrating the vibrant craft cider community and the culinary experiences that make Ontario a destination for food and drink lovers.
