Morgen Flury

Morgen’s passion and curiosity for the connection between land, food and culture began as a child. Her parents were European Immigrants, family and food were synonymous with love and comfort. Her earliest memory is eating the raspberries and blueberries that grew wild in their yard in Nanaimo B.C. She watched her father spear a rainbow trout using a traditional technique learned from his friends of the Snuneymuxw First Nation.

Morgen’s family travelled - to Germany where she first enjoyed Pflaumenkuchen, a delicious plum cake, then Malta, for ricotta cheese Pistizzi, and to Brazil for Moqueca – a fish stew. Her sense of adventure led her to study communication and broadcasting. As a television producer she created ClipTrip, a program that celebrated music and culture of the world. She led a small TV crew around the globe including – Peru, Japan, Kenya and India. When back at the studio Morgen produced live intimate, interactive events with many music icons such as Celine Dion, Sting and Joni Mitchell.

Culinary tourism is a way of life for Morgen. Her deep connection to land drives her passion to promote sustainability, and environments in which all cultures thrive while conserving resources for future generations.

When at home Morgen is a yoga teacher and volunteers for many organizations including The Leakey Foundation, The Jane Goodall Institute and Therapeutic Paws of Canada with her Papillon. Belle. She also continues her education in art and design.

Morgen is thrilled to be a part of the Culinary Tourism Alliance and brings experience producing unique, multidimensional events. She is innovative and collaborative with a passion for creating original, compelling experiences, with unparalleled content.

Morgen recommends:

  • Becoming an honorary Newfoundlander by getting “screeched-in” kissing a cod and downing a shot of screech, a potent rum. Followed by a rousing kitchen party were local musicians belt out traditional tunes until dawn complete with a fish supper of salted cod, buttery boiled potatoes and cabbage with a bakeapple cheesecake for afters.

  • An early morning stroll In New Orleans to Cafe Du Monde for their famous warm beignets, French doughnuts generously dusted with powdered sugar, and a rich, dark roasted coffee

infused with chicory to create a smooth, slightly chocolatey flavor.

  • Whiling away the afternoon at a cafe in the Piazza della Signoria, Florence, sipping a refreshing cold Italian birra while savoring a mouthwatering wood-fired pizza topped with fresh, local ingredients like sweet tomatoes, fragrant basil, creamy mozzarella, and drizzled with organic olive oil. Make sure to finish with a Caramello al Sale gelato.
