Introducing Our Newest Culinary Tourism Alliance members: Sarah Israel & Tetiana Demkiw

The Culinary Tourism Alliance is thrilled to welcome two remarkable individuals, Sarah Israel and Tetiana Demkiw, into our fold.

Each brings a unique palate, a suitcase full of experiences, and a deep-rooted love for food and culture that promises to enrich our community and initiatives.

Sarah Israel

Bilingual Marketing Specialist

Born in the gastronomic hub of Paris and raised in the vibrant suburbs of Montreal, Sarah Israel’s life is a testament to the power of food to forge connections, inspire curiosity, and spark joy. With a background that spans film production, history, and English literature and a career that has seen her contribute to the Toronto International Film Festival, Sarah is no stranger to storytelling. But it’s the stories of food producers across Canada that she’s most excited to share with the world.

Sarah's culinary recommendations take us on a tour from the bustling streets of Toronto’s west end, where a roast beef & cheddar sandwich at Phancy's Bodega is a must, to the scenic Granville Island in Vancouver for a bite of jelly-filled donut from Lee's Donuts. Not to forget, a soulful soup of the day with brown bread at the Ballymaloe Country House in County Cork, Ireland, capturing her essence as a truly global food connoisseur.

Tetiana Demkiw

Membership Coordinator

Tetiana Demkiw’s journey from the tender fruit farms of Lincoln, Ontario, to the dynamic digital marketing spaces of Niagara showcases her deep-seated appreciation for local food and community-building. Her academic and professional background, spanning digital enterprise management and digital communications, has perfectly positioned her to promote the essence of local culture and heritage within the tourism sector.

Her recommendations are a love letter to Ontario’s rich culinary landscape and beyond. From picking strawberries at Tigchelaar Berry Farms to enjoying Cuban comfort food at La Cubana in Toronto after a walk under the Sakura cherry trees in High Park, Tetiana’s experiences are a roadmap to enjoying life’s simple pleasures through food.

As the newest members of the Culinary Tourism Alliance, Sarah and Tetiana not only bring their diverse backgrounds and experiences but also a shared passion for celebrating the culinary world's richness. Through their work, we look forward to further exploring how food connects us to places, cultures, and each other, making every bite a journey worth taking.

Stay tuned as we embark on this delicious adventure with Sarah and Tetiana at the helm, ready to uncover and share the stories that make our culinary landscape so vibrant and inviting.
